The Facilities Technician 1 will be directly responsible for ensuring the daily operations within the office, laboratory, and general building areas.


The ideal candidate will be adept at responding to facilities issues and service requests. The candidate will ideally have HVAC, mechanical, and laboratory experience.


  • Perform general building inspections, facility maintenance, and cleaning
  • Perform and complete daily facilities equipment and utilities monitoring and data recording
  • Complete work requests for lab, office, and facilities systems in a timely matter, while offering superb customer service.
  • Perform office and lab furniture reconfiguration, set-up, installations, and moves.
  • Assist with vendor visits for general maintenance, preventative maintenance, and emergency repair activities.
  • Ensure all preventative maintenance is completed on schedule, either in-house or by a vendor, while maintaining equipment history files on all equipment.
  • Immediately respond to emergency situations such as fire, evacuation, and equipment failure.
  • Work with equipment vendors on repairs, preventative maintenance, and system upgrades



  • High School diploma is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial or industrial facility operations.
  • Ability to work safely with and around hazardous materials
  • Ability to perform general maintenance including but not limited to plumbing, patching, painting, and carpentry.
  • Proficient computer skills using the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license.


  • Maintenance experience in a high-tech, pharmaceutical, or biotech environment is preferred.
  • Maintenance experience with HVAC and low voltage systems is preferred.
  • Experience with CMMS or work order system is preferred.

Travel, Physical/Mental Demands and Work Environment

- Standing or sitting for long periods of time may be necessary
- Some lifting (greater than 25 pounds) may be necessary; Facilities, Materials and Engineering employees occasionally must lift at least 50-75 pounds.
